How to calculate 10% GST manually
To calculate the GST amount, multiply the tax-exclusive price by 0.10.
For a tax-exclusive price of $100.00:
- GST amount: $100.00 × 0.10 = $10.00
- GST-inclusive price: $100.00 + $10.00 = $110.00
To extract GST from a tax-inclusive price, divide the inclusive price by 11.
For a tax-inclusive price of $110.00:
- GST amount: $110.00 ÷ 11 = $10.00
- GST-exclusive price: $110.00 − $10.00 = $100.00
Alternatively, divide the GST-inclusive price by 1.10:
- $110.00 ÷ 1.10 = $100.00
