This is a fixed-rate calculator for historical calculations or transactions where a 6% GST rate applies. Malaysia no longer uses GST, and the Maldives’ general-sector GST rate increased from 6% to 8% on 1 January 2023.
How to calculate 6% GST manually
To calculate the GST amount, multiply the tax-exclusive price by 0.06.
For a tax-exclusive price of $100.00:
- GST amount: $100.00 × 0.06 = $6.00
- GST-inclusive price: $100.00 + $6.00 = $106.00
To extract GST from a tax-inclusive price, multiply the inclusive price by 6 and divide it by 106.
For a tax-inclusive price of $106.00:
- GST amount: $106.00 × 6 ÷ 106 = $6.00
- GST-exclusive price: $106.00 − $6.00 = $100.00
Alternatively, divide the GST-inclusive price by 1.06:
- $106.00 ÷ 1.06 = $100.00
